Meet Our Pastor

Get to know the White family.

Our names are Bryon and Lindsay White and we'd love to take a few minutes to share with you our hearts for Park City, Utah and a little about the journey that has led us here.
For twenty-one years, we were on staff at a wonderful church in Cherry Hill,  New Jersey. Prior to getting married and serving at Kingsway, Bryon had been a part of a church plant in Salt Lake City; although he is a Midwestern boy from Missouri, he quickly grew to love the people and culture of the Mountain West. Three years into his role in SLC as youth pastor/worship leader, he resigned and moved out to New Jersey to marry his Bible College sweetheart, Lindsay.
The first time that he visited NJ he had informed her, quite emphatically, that he could never live there; however, God knew that the plans He had for us were so very different than what we had planned for ourselves.

"We had no way of knowing at the time just how impactful and heartbreaking our time outside of the church's walls would be. "

We were invited to fill the role of youth pastor at Kingsway Church, and we put our dreams to return to the Mountain West on the shelf. In the fall of 2000, Bryon became the youth pastor, and we loved every minute of those ten years.
In time, we began to sense that our season of youth pastoring was coming to an end. We anticipated heading out West and planting a church; instead, our Lead Pastor was called by the Lord to help revitalize a struggling church, and we were asked to stay and prayerfully consider having Bryon step into the role of lead pastor. As we sought the Lord, it quickly became clear to us that this was what He wanted for our family. We carefully placed our plans on the shelf again, and for the next 11 years, Bryon faithfully led our beautiful church with humility, courage and integrity. By that time, the dream of the West had been in our hearts, prayers, and conversations for over twenty years.

In January of 2021, during a time of prayer and fasting, Bryon heard from the Lord that it was “okay to go.” Bryon began the process of passing the baton to our executive pastor who had been on staff at Kingsway for 8 years. It was a process that was simultaneously beautiful and emotional; although we had talked and dreamed about this for a very long time, giving up the comfort and security of twenty-one years of history, relationship, influence, and roots was significant. Our church blessed and honored our family in such a way that is almost impossible to capture in words. They have loved and supported us as we have sought to follow Jesus every step of this unexpected journey.
We sold our house and most of our belongings, said our tearful goodbyes, loaded up our 1997 Winnebago RV (whom we affectionately named Gloria), and drove out of town. For almost 2 years, we lived outside of the four walls of the church. We were reminded that there is a big world outside of her four walls that is desperate to be cared for by the Fatherly heart of God, the person of Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

During those two years on the road, we met some of the loveliest people; we got to talk around campfires, share meals around picnic tables, and hike dirt paths with many of them. We had the honor of sharing our story, hearing their stories, and being welcomed into the larger story for a little while. Some of these people knew and loved Jesus. Some of them knew one or two versions of some sort of Jesus. Some of them had been deeply hurt by people who claimed to know Jesus, but treated others in a way that did not seem to reflect Him well. We had no way of knowing at the time just how impactful, life-giving, and heartbreaking it would be to step outside of the church's walls and to simply live life - not as a Pastor, but just as a Jesus-follower.

During this time we experienced the deeply instructive and formative opportunity for what we believe God has next for us; the unique opportunity to be complete strangers walking through the doors of many different churches. On any given Sunday as new visitors to churches across the country, we looked for two things: we deeply desired to sense the presence of the Holy Spirit, and we desired to be welcomed. We saw through different lenses just how critical both of those things are if the church is serious about leaving the 99 to chase after the one. What we experienced was alarming. Out of all the churches we visited - different denominations, sizes and demographics - only a few seemed to invite and make room for the Holy Spirit and strangers.
We entered many churches that were beautiful to behold, whose programming was dialed in and whose worship teams were impressive. They had ‘lights, camera, action!’ down to a science. But our family came and left unnoticed, without even a handshake or hello during the greeting time. We are seasoned in our faith and in ministry, and we do not need to have our hands held in a church - but we left those churches completely unseen.
We know that all churches have off days; we understand that even the most welcoming of churches will have people who slip through the cracks, because we are all human. The alarming factor was that this wasn't a one-time experience at only one type of church; it happened often, spanning all different types of churches. In almost two years, there were only a couple of churches that we felt got the most important things right.
One of them was a contemporary congregation that met in an old, restored Presbyterian Church. From the minute the service started, we could sense that the Holy Spirit was present. He was clearly welcomed, and His presence was obvious was through the open hearts of the people. We sighed a huge sigh of relief that Sunday and tears filled our eyes and ran down our faces as we worshipped with that body.
Another place we experienced both the Holy Spirit and our family being welcomed was in Huntington Beach, California. This Church did not have a building, but met on big, concrete, amphitheater style steps that go down to the beach. They gathered weekly to lift the Lord’s name high, to encourage each other, and to introduce people to Jesus.  Some people were regulars and some, like us, were curious strangers, but all were welcomed. The Holy Spirit was also roaming among them, touching hearts and changing lives. It was a holy and memorable moment.

We don't share these memories to criticize, rather because they taught us new lessons and reminded us of some ancient, valuable truths that we hope to carry with us into our new season. We were reminded and warned in our spirits that we, as pastors, have a responsibility to lead our churches in the Jesus way. If we don't make the presence of Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit the most important thing, we have tragically missed the mark. In a world that is fractured by disunity, tormented by loneliness, hounded by anxiety, and darkened by despair and sin, if we don't humbly acknowledge and enthusiastically welcome the powerful work of the Trinity, there is no hope. Nothing but the strong, loving heart of God the Father, the perfect sacrifice and example of Jesus, the Son, and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit, can convict of sin or change, restore, and heal the human heart. Nothing but the blood of Jesus and sanctifying work of the Spirit can do this.
Our buildings, programs, music, coffee, and sermons are most certainly tools and can serve a wonderful purpose if built on the right foundation and for the correct purposes - but on their own, they are chaff and will be blown away (Psalm 127:1).

All of this brings us to where we are today. We have felt drawn to put down new roots in Park City, Utah. Through a series of closed doors, we have opened the doors of our home (and the homes of several other families), and have started The Table Church. This experience has been pure joy; we are learning to not despise small beginnings, but rather to embrace them.
In these 11 months, we have had the opportunity to throw our doors open, and have watched with awe and glee as people have actually come! We worship together through songs, the Word, and one of the most recognized universal symbols for gathering – food. We have been thrilled to see believers and many who have yet to acknowledge Jesus as their Savior and Friend gather together. We have had several families ask to host because they want to invite their neighbors, many of whom will enter a friend’s house, but probably not a church building. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for what the Lord has birthed, and we are excited to see what He will do in Park City and the surrounding areas.

Our heart for this newborn church is to see individual lives and families forever impacted and changed by Jesus. We want unbelievers to be captivated and captured by Him; we want new believers to grow and mature in their faith; we want seasoned followers to model well for us younger ones what it looks like to authentically bear His name as we go about our business in our neighborhoods, communities and cities.
Our hope and prayer is to be a part of a healthy, impactful, sustainable church in Park City. Our heart's desire is to lead with humility, courage, and authenticity. We do believe that Jesus is already putting together a team to help lead, and we believe in the stability and accountability that a godly, healthy team brings. We are seeking the Lord’s will with all our hearts, and we will follow Him faithfully.

God has put a love in our hearts for the people of Park City, and He has already done miraculous things! Park City is breathtakingly beautiful, but it is a city in need of the Light. We hope and pray that Jesus' light becomes brighter and brighter through our lives and the lives of the amazing people who are becoming His church. Thank you for taking the time to hear our story and to encourage us to walk where Jesus leads. May He be merciful to us all as we look to him for everything.
