Dear Table Church Family,
This morning Lindsay and I woke to a feeling of heaviness and grief. We are deeply heartbroken as we reflect on the tragic news of Charlie Kirk's untimely death at UVU yesterday. This senseless violence hits so close to home. We invite you to pause now for a moment of prayer, silence and lament, lifting up Charlie's precious wife and children, the UVU community and our friends Daran and Noreen Lemon that serve as Chi Alpha missionaries on that campus.
We are also invite you to join us as we remember the 24th anniversary of 9-11, a day that changed so much about the world as we had known it. We remember the victims and family members that were affected by that horrific tragedy.
Our news is flooded with darkness and events that we grapple to make sense of. We pray for God's mercy, forgiveness and healing for our nation.
Psalm 10:12-18 says, "Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted. Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”? But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless. Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none. The Lord is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land. O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more."
We pray for the strength of the Father, the unmatchable presence of His Son, Jesus, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit to be upon us all as we consider these things and offer comfort to others.
In Christ's peace,
Pastor Bryon and Lindsay
